34 duathletes braved a rather dodgy weather forecast to line up under grey skies at Tockington - an unfamiliar experience at this race that has so far been blessed with such amazing weather! In the event a squally shower or two didn't prove a showstopper and all starters finished in some pretty brisk times, ranging from 42 to 62 minutes - a quality field.

First to finish was Jamie Britton in an excellent time (considering the conditions) of 42.25. Race regular Tom Miller (Emersons Green RC) took third place behind runner-up Phil Partridge (Staple Hill Runners). George Britton, just a few days after turning 16, raced to an impressive 12th place overall, while fellow junior athlete Nathan Price (15) came in 19th.

The ladies' race was won once again by Yvonne Cox  47.30, with Fional Grey and Helen Parker (Kingswood Tri), separated by only 7 seconds, taking 2nd and 3rd.

Today's race was the last of the series and our club is now focussed on some international events to mark our 40th anniversary - our first race took place in the USA on 2nd October 1977. Next year we'll be back with another season of Running, Triathlon and GO TRI events around the Bristol area. Thanks to Triathon England for backing our GO TRI Events again this year. Thanks to everyone who took part this year, as athlete or helper, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2018.

Whatever you have got lined up for the winter - have a good one!

If we only dare to try
And have faith.

The glorious summer of 2017 continues and in dry, warm conditions we saw our highest turnout to date (46 starters) and some very fast times at the front of the field. Chris Mills (Clevedon & District RC) was just a minute off the course record, taking first place among the men with 38.07, while a close race for second saw Matt Washburn finish strongly in 41.29, just 6 seconds ahead of Stewart Downie (North Bristol Tri) in 3rd. Yvonne Cox added another Sri Chinmoy Races 2017 trophy to her collection, finishing first among the women with a time of 46.45, with the runner up spot going to Maite Roche (Thornbury RC) and third place to Katie Jones (Caldicot RC).

Sadly we had a couple of mechanicals, with Emily Graham forced to retire with a flat just as she started the ride. Harsharn Dephu overcame the double misfortune of a flat tyre and a broken chain to complete the course on foot in just over an hour and a half.

Our next Duathlon event is on the same course on Sunday 10 September, while the next race in our Summer Series is our Relay (for teams of 3, completing a single 1 mile lap each) in Eastville Park on 18th July. The Race Director has confirmed that the "free ice creams for all relay runners" offer is definitely on, so get yourself a team together (all abilities welcome) and you can sign up on the night.

Results are in the attached PDF file and photos are in our gallery at: http://ukgallery.srichinmoyraces.org/Bristol/2017

Thanks to all who took part today and we hope to see you at another event soon.

The promised sunshine didn't emerge at the start but it was there in time to shine on the later finishers. 42 completed the race and with dry and still weather conditions (pretty cool as well, it has to be said) we saw good times at the top of the results - the winner coming close to 40 minutes.

Winning times were 40.25 for Chris Mills (Clevedon and District Road Cycling Club) and 48.29 for Yvonne Cox.

Male runners up were Carl Ward (50+, Somerset R C Tri, 41.24) and Thomas Miller (Kingswood Tri, 43.08) while second and third women's places went to Katherine Adams (51.10) and Katie Jones (Caldicott R C, 51.25).

Fast veteran (60+) Peter Cotterill pushed himself hard to finish in the top 4 with an excellent 44.26.

Photos will be online within a few days - at http://ukgallery.srichinmoyraces.org/Bristol/

It was great to see so many women taking part (20 out of the 42) and as usual hybrids and mountain bikes were rubbing shoulders with TT & Tri bikes so we're still seeing that broad cross-section of athletes - from tri veterans to first timers - that GO TRI events across the UK are hoping to cater for.

Coming up next in April & May we have running events in Eastville Park, our Aquathlon in Filton and of course the Try-a-Tri and new Sprint Tri at Portishead. Details are all online at uk.srichinmoyraces.org.

Thanks to everyone who took part and hope to see you at the next race,

Another pretty much perfect day (we've been lucky in an otherwise pretty dodgy summer!) saw 37 duathletes take part in our 4th multisport race of 2016. As this was a GO TRI event we were pleased to see so many first-timers in the field, but we also had some seasoned triathletes taking part and it was great to have a winning time of under 40 minutes.

First-places went to Joe Pritchard (39.18) and Karen Law (48.04)

Results are in the attached PDF and as usual there are some point-and-click photos from the event which I'll have in our gallery by the end of today (3/7/16): http://ukgallery.srichinmoyraces.org/Bristol/2016

Forthcoming races include the final 2-mile event in our summer run series (5 July) and our 3 x 1 mile relay (19 July) - always great fun!

Thanks to all who took part and see you at another race soon,

A beautiful sunny morning at Tockington saw both course records smashed - Matt Fratesi knocked 40 seconds off the previous mark with a winning time of 37.15 while Naomi Eaton (Stroud), 4th overall, set a new women's record of 42.51.

In all there were 40 finishers with times ranging from 37.15 to 1.05.50 and an age range of 17 to 70.

Thanks to all who took part in this final race of the series, and a big thank you also to visiting marshals from the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team (from London, Cardiff and Canada).

Keep an eye on http://uk.srichinmoyraces.org/ for details of next year's races (first Duathlon will be in March 2016) and as ever we'll have race photos uploaded within a few days to http://ukgallery.srichinmoyraces.org/Bristol.

Warm, still, dry weather and a freshly mown playing field made conditions ideal for the race today. 42 duathletes took part and Mark Kemp, Luke Hanson and David Wayland all dipped under the previous course record. Mark's winning time was 37.55 and first female duathlete over the line was Alix McKillop in 49.47.

Lots of first timers took part and seem to have enjoyed their foray into duathlon as a few have already signed up for the September race - see you there!

33 duathletes completed our 2k-15k-2k course at Tockington Manor School - dry conditions prevailed again but it was decidedly chilly! Despite that, John O'Dwyer came close to the course record with a winning time of 40.57 while Maria Badel took the honours in the women's race with 51:51.

Thanks to everyone who took part - a strong and varied field as ever with seasoned triathletes rubbing shoulders with multisport first-timers.

A race gallery will be uploaded later this week.

This was the third and final running this year of our GO TRI duathlon on the scenic-but-technical course around Tockington and Pilning. GO TRI events are meant to be small, but we were pleased to see our highest number of signups so far. This time the field included some fast newcomers as well as some regulars who have taken part in all 3 events this season.

In the still, cool conditions we saw new course records set by both winners - Alex Miller of Westbury Harriers (40:42) and Heather Fell (45:40).

Next event should be in March 2015 - check back on this site (uk.srichinmoyraces.org) to see race dates as and when they are confirmed. Thanks to all who took part and also to the vocal supporters who encouraged them. See you next year!

33 duathletes took part in the second edition of this GO TRI Duathlon, comprising a 2km Run / 15km Bike / 2km Run. We had every kind of participant from the experienced triathlete on a carbon bike to the first-time multisporter on a mountain or touring bike - there were contingents from a number of local and not-so-local clubs including an enthusiastic crew from Bristol & West AC. Alex Miller (Westbury Harriers - 42.22) and Eleanor Millington (Cheltenham Tri - 48.00) took the top spots - thanks to every one who took part and gave the race such a great atmosphere! Photos will be uploaded to our Race Gallery, results are available to download as a PDF. Our next Duathlon, on the same course, is on 27 September 2014.

Our first ever Duathlon event was held on a flat course on the lanes around Tockington and Pilning. 23 Duathletes completed the course on a cool Spring morning - these are the times to beat when we hold the race again! We have uploaded a photo gallery too so you can get an idea of the event. The plan is to hold this race 3 times a year, so check our web site for details. Thanks to all those who took part and helped us launch GO TRI in the Bristol area!
