Sri Chinmoy

Sri Chinmoy was a spiritual Teacher, who was also a keen runner and saw running as part of his philosophy of 'Self-Transcendence'.

“Running helps us considerably. Running is continuous motion. Because of our running, we feel that there is a goal — not only an outer goal but also an inner goal.”

- Sri Chinmoy

Sri Chinmoy himself ran several marathons and a few ultra-marathons. His best time for the marathon was 3:55:07 in Toledo Ohio, 1979.

Run and Become

Run and Become was originally founded by husband and wife team Ongkar Tony Smith and Cherry Smith in 1982, (at the suggestion of Sri Chinmoy). It is now managed by their daughters Shankara and Dipika Smith.

Run and Become is at the heart of the London running community and has sponsored many of our local Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. events.
