Our Try-a-Tri event is tailor-made for beginners, especially first-timers, at the sport of triathlon. With manageable distances and the combination of a pool swim and a flat run course, the Sri Chinmoy Somerset Try-a-Tri is a great way to get a taste of the UK's fastest growing endurance sport. Our sponsors are Gary Harris Cycles who provide fantastic mechanical support and Run and Become, the world-famous Specialist Running Shop. We were are also supported by K2 Timing who provide Electronic Chip Timing & online results. For photos of previous Try-a-Tri events take a look at our Races Gallery.
We are also offering a Sprint Triathlon held on the same day as the Try-a-Tri, with longer distances of 400m swim, 25k bike and 5k run. Both the Try-a-Tri and Sprint Triathlon are perfect "practice races" for anyone planning to do other longer local events.
Beginner's Try-a-Tri Training Guide is now online (click here to view).

About the Triathlon
The 3 Stages
Swim - 264m - 8 lengths of Portishead's heated, open-air pool. A stunning sea-front location for that "open water" feel without having to tackle cold water, or the need for a wetsuit.
Bike - 17k - A varied route on minor roads between Portishead Esplanade and Clevedon including the hills on Nore Road and Valley Road. Any style of bike can be used (so long as it's roadworthy, standard size and has working gears/brakes ie. not a "fixie" or fixed-gear bike).
Run - 4k - A flat, easy, three-lap circuit of Portishead's Lake Grounds.
Further info
Youth entrants (anyone who will be aged 15+ at the end of 2020) are welcome, but the course is not suitable for younger triathletes (who are not permitted to compete on public roads).
This event is held under British Triathlon Rules.
