The annual Run and Become Self-Transcendence 5km road race at Silverknowes in Edinburgh again lived up to its reputation as the fastest in-depth 5km field in Scotland.
Callum Hawkins (Kilbarchan) set a new course record of 14 minutes 17 seconds when claiming the Scottish Athletics 5km road title. This time beat the previous record of 14:35. In doing so he helped to pull 8 other athletes under the 15 minute mark. A total of 137 runners broke the 18 minute barrier with 225 in total under 20 minutes.
Sarah Inglis (Lothian RC) claimed the women’s title in 16:25 from VP Glasgow’s Jo Moultrie with 16:43 and Fife AC's Stephanie Penyycook 3rd in 16:57.
Thanks to all the runners for supporting the event, and to all the officials and marshalls for giving their time as always.
