Thanks to everyone who supported our race at Tockington and congratulations to all those who completed their first Triathlon.
The race overall was a fast one, with the top two in our Open category both eclipsing the winning time from last year. Simon Wright (3rd), Rob Sims (2nd) and Mark Wilkinson (1st) all broke the 40 minute barrier and their intent was clear from their speed out of transition.
Mark’s excellent time of 35:32 is our new course record and should stand the test of time. In fact, if the race distances are updated next year in line with the new SwimBikeRun initiative, that record will be a permanent one.
In the 25-strong women’s field, the podium finishes went to Lauren Sexton (3rd), Melissa Mann (2nd) and Emma Downie (1st). The overall standard was high and although we’d been expecting newcomers to the sport to need an hour and a half to get round, everyone was home well before that. A strong team performance!
Trophies are on their way to our worthy winners Mark and Emma, while the race gallery is growing with new images expected every few days as they arrive from the phones of various volunteers! If anyone wants to share their photos just send a link of some kind (flickr, google photos, etc) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
