It was the race of the vets who finished well up in both mens and womens categories.

It always seems to be sunny for our relays with a good buzz and and almost a family feel, as teenagers mix it with 60 and 70 year olds to run the magic of the mile. This year’s event on July 25th was no exception.
The Corstorphine A team (aka the CAAC Commando Unit) blazed a trail from the start with Stu Livingston leading them home in 4.38. Scott Pilkington maintained the CAAC lead on leg 2 with a 4.42 split, Corstorphine’s B team were holding 2nd from Lothian Running Club. Leg 3 saw Ewan Brown, with the fastest leg of the evening of 4.22, bring the CAAC boys home in 13 minutes 42seconds.
A strong leg from Max McNeil of 4.27, home for a short break from Oklahoma University, brought Lothian Running Club up into 2nd in 14.14 with the CAAC B team 3rd, in 14.27.
The Edinburgh AC ladies A team led home on leg 1 with Chloe Cox in 5,33 just ahead of Lyndsey Fraser in their B team (5.36). Isla Scott-Pearse maintained the lead with a 5.30 before handing over to Laura Dunn who ran the fastest ladies leg of the evening, 5.15 to finish with a total time of 16.18
EAC’s B team (Lyndsey Fraser, Emma Baker and Jocelyn Moar) claimed second place in 16.55, with the composite team of Lucy Marshall,Amy Kerr and Lyndsey Fraser claiming 3rd in 17.44.
Special mentions to:
1st junior ladies team from Corstorphine. Katherine McLeod, 5.39, Georgia Leadingham 5.21and Mhairi Arnott 6.05 finished with 17.05.
1st MV50 team was Brian Hughes Cambuslang (who ran the fastest vet 60 time of 5.11!); Jim Scott (EAC) 6.07 and Matt Newman (EAC) 6.29 who are all over 60!
1st MV 60 team was PH Racing Club John Crookston 5.41, Ed Norton 5.55 and Ian Robert Johnson 5.53, were also the first over 50 team, with 17.29.
PH Racing club were also the first mixed team,. Phil Waring 5.17 Scott Love 5.37 and Kirsten Lownie 5.27 totalling 16.21.
82 teams toed the start line . Thank you to you all for supporting.

The first Meadows race for our 2018 summer series was held in glorious sunshine.
Alastair Masson of Edinburgh Uni Hares and Hounds (EUHH) led from the start and stormed to victory with 9.51. Corstorphine’s Stu Livingstone was with a small pack at the half way mark and was to prove the stronger finishing second in 10.17 ahead of Matt Fellbaum (EUHH) 10.22 Nick Freer just edged his HBT club mate Patryk Geirjatowyzk, for 4th although both were timed at 10.22.
Amy Frankland (EUHH) was a clear winner of the women’s race finishing in 13th place overall with 11.00 Fife AC sisters Jennifer, 11.58 and Ailsa Cruikshank, 12.16 took 2nd and 3rd. Dave Blackie was first V/50 in 10.59 from Neil McKay, 11.14 and Willie Jarvie (Portobello) 11.29. Brian Hughes Cambuslang was 1st V/60 in 11.22 and Alan Gordon (HBT) was 1st 0/70. Claire Gilchrist, was first FV50 in 14.03, from Penicuik’s Pamela Newport, 14.30.
Special mention to Tynebridge Harrier Paul O’Mara who made the trip from Newcastle and was rewarded with 6th place in a 2 mile PB. Also, without embarrassing him by naming him, the runner who started the race still wearing his bike helmet, and discarded it after the first loop at 1 mile .
