The first Meadows race for our 2018 summer series was held in glorious sunshine.

Alastair Masson of Edinburgh Uni Hares and Hounds (EUHH) led from the start and stormed to victory with 9.51. Corstorphine’s Stu Livingstone was with a small pack at the half way mark and was to prove the stronger finishing second in 10.17 ahead of Matt Fellbaum (EUHH) 10.22 Nick Freer just edged his HBT club mate Patryk Geirjatowyzk, for 4th although both were timed at 10.22.

Amy Frankland (EUHH) was a clear winner of the women’s race finishing in 13th place overall with 11.00 Fife AC sisters Jennifer, 11.58 and Ailsa Cruikshank, 12.16 took 2nd and 3rd. Dave Blackie was first V/50 in 10.59 from Neil McKay, 11.14 and Willie Jarvie (Portobello) 11.29. Brian Hughes Cambuslang was 1st V/60 in 11.22 and Alan Gordon (HBT) was 1st 0/70. Claire Gilchrist, was first FV50 in 14.03, from Penicuik’s Pamela Newport, 14.30.

Special mention to Tynebridge Harrier Paul O’Mara who made the trip from Newcastle and was rewarded with 6th place in a 2 mile PB. Also, without embarrassing him by naming him, the runner who started the race still wearing his bike helmet, and discarded it after the first loop at 1 mile .
