Results of the Self Transcendence 2 mile race held on Wednesday 13 September 2006 at the Meadows, Edinburgh, Scotland

The last race in the self transcendence race series was an easy victory for Zak Bouchenka running for his chosen charity, Islamic Relief in a time of 9.35. He finished 19 seconds ahead of Ferranti's Adam Priestley. City of Edinburgh's Steve Wales took 3rd place just dipping under the 10 minute barrier.
New Zealand marathon runner internationalist Rebecca Moore went through the first mile in 5.19 and maintained excellent form to finish in 7th place overall in 10.44 (the fastest ladies 2 mile time at the Meadows this summer). Janet Dunbar had a good run to come in 2nd F in 11.20.
Trevor Ridely returned to winning ways to take 1st o50. Alec Agnew took 2nd o50 and well known Trotter Dick Wall was delighted with his 3rd place MV50 medal. Keith Weston, Ferranti took the 1st MV60 in 11.54.
And it seems we'll be saying goodbye to Meadows regular, City of Edinburgh's Francis Hooton who will be hanging up his racing shoes at the end of the year.

Race results and fastest laps follow this report. A record field of 41 teams took part in the Self Transcendence 3 x 1 mile relays held on Wednesday 26 July 2006.
Northern Ireland internationalist, Steve Cairns (4.27) bought HBT home on leg 1 with a narrow lead over Pitreavie's Paul McCloskey (4.29) and Arbroath's Stuart Campbell (4.30).While junior Sarah Inglis (5.13) bought Lothian home as first girl's team, Welshman, Don Naylor (4.28) increased the Bog Trotters lead on the 2nd leg to 13 secs over Pitreavie who held a 4 sec lead over Arbroath.
Pitreavie's Scottish Inernationalist, John Newsom, although equally Cairn's 4.27 split, made little inroads on the Trotters with new signing Murray Strain (4.30) bringing them home 10 seconds clear.UNFORTUNATELY, WE EXPERIENCED SOME PROBLEMS RECORDING TIMES ON THE FIRST LEG BETWEEN 5.20 AND 6 MINS. ALTHOUGH THIS DOESN'T AFFECT THE OVERALL FINISHING TIMES OF THE TEAMS THE SPLIT TIMES FOR LEGS 1 AND 2 FOR SOME OF THE TEAMS ARE OPEN TO QUESTION!
