The series was a clean sweep for a single club for the first time, with all the awards going to Great Western Runners. Hopefully next year some other local clubs will make a good contest of it - Westbury came the closest this year with John Collier's two victories, but with John not taking part in the first race it was Gavin Watkins who won the series convincingly on points.
The relay was once again the highlight of the series, and it was great to see family teams, workplace teams and a junior team taking part alongside all the club regulars.
Ray Jaekels from BARR was present at the final race and we await his suggestions with interest in the hope that we will be able to continue to improve our race series. For safety reasons, we may shift the start line next year to a straighter section of the course. If any runners have suggestions, please do get in touch.
We are also looking for an alternative venue for the 5k race, as the Eastville course is more suited to one-lap or two-lap races. Again, suggestion are most welcome!
I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to every runner who took part in our series this year for coming along and supporting these events in the best way possible - by running them! Thanks are also due to Mark Collinson who did a great job in his first year as race organiser, and to all the members of the Sri Chinmoy AC who did the recording and marshalling.
See you all in 2008!
