Edinburgh, Scotland - 116 runners for 5k race

29 April - 116 runners took part in the first 5k Self Transcendence race of the year on a fine Wednesday evening in the Meadows, which was in full cherry blossom bloom. Check out the race photos in the gallery.

At the end of the first mile Ray Ward, HBT, was in the lead in 5.01, closely followed by Adam Priestley, Edinburgh AC, in 5.04.   In the women's race Edinburgh AC's Kim Threadgall and Cath Ferry passed through in 5.55 closely followed by Eilidh WArdlaw, HBT.  

 At the end of the second mile, Ward (10.14) had a clear lead over Border Harriers, Welsh.   Ferry (11.54) was clear of Threadgall,  with Heidi Nicholson, of Edinburgh Uni in third.

Ward won in 16.02, Welsh held on for second in 16.26 just ahead of Falkirk's Alec Davidson.

Cath Ferry finished strongly in 18.36 to win the women's race, with Heidi Nicholson running a fine last lap to finish 5 secs clear of Kim Threadgall.

 Special mention to Ken Rankin, 1st over 50 in 17.33.   this year is the 25th anniversary of our races in the Meadows and Kenny ran that first race   and has been coming ever since!
