As the Commonwealth Games opens in Glasgow, grass roots running is alive and well in Edinburgh.

Murray Strain (HBT) and Neil Renault (EAC) had a good duel at the front with Murray just edging Neil by 1 second (9.24 to 9.25).

Carnethy Hill Runner Charlotte Morgan again showed she has a good turn of speed on the flat finishing 1st woman and 12th overall in 11.10.

In the men vet 50s Ken Rankin (Falkirk V) and Colin Feechan (Cambusland) had their own duel with Kenny coming home the stronger in 10.59 to 11.03.

1st MV60 was Jim Scott (Portobello) in 12.33.  Also there was an outstanding run from Vet 70 Bert Carse in 13.15.  Bert was originally from Edinburgh and now lives in Western Australia and often fits in a race when he's in Edinburgh.

A big thank you to everyone who turned out (both to run and help).  We had a record 64 teams so nicely took over the Meadows on a sunny July evening.  We have checked the results and found some spelling queries so if you let us know any corrections we will amend the results accordingly.

We especially liked some of the team names (in no particular order):

    Pray for Pilki's Calf

    The Road to Ruane

    Huff 'N Puff

Carnegie Harriers (Spanish theme team names).
